(results achieved with therapeutic massage therapy can vary based on the condition, individual, and number of therapy sessions)
Neuromuscular therapy is a form of soft tissue massage that aims to alleviate chronic muscle and nervous system disorders and problems. It is a very specific and effective type of therapeutic massage therapy. NMT can be used to release trigger points, improve circulation, help relieve nerve compression/entrapment, reduce pain, increase mobility, and help restore optimal posture. NMT is suggested for addressing specific issues and pain relief. Includes thorough assessment, muscle testing, hip corrections, and targeted manual therapy.(It is suggested to yoga pants or shorts for the initial assessment and subsequent corrections)
The manual(hands-on) therapy services we offer can provide visible results from postural imbalances, reduce pain, and improve function in as little as one session. We use a range of techniques based in Neuromuscular Therapy, Swedish Massage, and kinesiology to help improve mobility, flexibility, posture, and quality of life. If you're looking for a Macon GA massage therapist, feel free to call, text, or schedule online for a professional massage today.
I'll work with you to develop a personalized therapy plan that will address your specific needs and goals. Whether you're looking for general relaxation or if you have a specific problem or condition that you want to focus on, I'll the time to understand what you would like to accomplish overall and from each session. Then we can develop a plan that helps you achieve the desired results with therapeutic massage therapy.
Postural assessments are included with every NMT session. These assessments are needed to develop a plan for therapy. They start with a visual assessment to check for any obvious imbalance, such as uneven shoulders. Then the bony landmarks and surrounding muscle are checked and measured to further evaluate any mechanical imbalance or tension. After the initial assessment the main focus will be to use NMT techniques to correct any imbalance in the hips. The hips are the body's base and if the body's base is not steady, it will undoubtedly force the body to compensate in a way that will eventually cause problems. For example, if one hip is higher than the other, the body can compensate by allowing the spine to lean to the opposite side causing scoliosis(functional) so that walking isn't affected. After any corrections, the remainder of the session will be focused on lengthening overly shortened muscles and shortening overly stretched muscles in an attempt to restore postural balance.
Swedish massage is one of the first recognized forms of massage. It is typically a full body massage intended for general relaxation and to promote a state of relaxation and sense of calmness. There are many therapeutic benefits of Swedish massage though the application of treatment is more general and less specific. Benefits include increased circulation, better digestion, improved muscle tone and decreased tension, and a whole host of benefits that are associated with activating the parasympathetic nervous system. Your PNS is the "Rest & Digest" part of the nervous system and when activated it helps the body repair itself and eliminate metabolic byproducts/toxins. This Therapy is done primarily with open hands and palms. Though other massage modalities may be incorporated. Adjustments to any session may be made as appropriate each client's preferences as far as pressure, focus and length of treatment.
Swedish sessions do NOT include assessments and corrections, though they may be added separately.
Choose Swedish Massage Therapy If you are looking for General Relaxation And Wellness.
NMT and/or Swedish Massage therapy's benefits can be increased significantly when combined with consistent self care and lifestyle adjustments. In most cases, fully optimizing ones posture, mobility , and wellness requires strengthening postural muscles as well as any weak phasic muscles to restore balance and integrity to the body's structure. This is something that applies to everyone and is something even high level athletes could benefit from.

IRT was created by Ira Wikel. Ira is a Physiotherapist and Teacher who has been practicing for over 30 years. IRT is a combination of the most effective techniques that Ira has learned, developed, and taught over the years. These technique are derived from "Structural Integration™(a subset of Rolfing), Osteopathic techniques, and myofacial mobilization as well as other therapies. Facia is the connective tissue that holds our bodies together by providing stability, support and strength to every soft tissue in our bodies. Facia covers every organ, muscle group, individual muscle, each muscle fiber, and there is a even a layer beneath your skin. It intertwines with and connects everything in your body together. If you can affect one area of facia, it will directly and/or indirectly affect the rest of your body is some way. Most all facial techniques require the treatment hand/tool to be dry.( No lotion is used during any facial therapy.) An example of a common condition that Facial therapy can treat is "Pantar Fasciitis" , though there are MANY more. If you are interested in including IRT/ Myofacial Mobilization techniques in your session, I can include them with your Swedish or NMT session for FREE.
